I got this cookbook when I married in 1952. As you can tell, it has been used and used and used. It's seen it's better day (sort of like me!) but I can't bear to get rid of it.

My grandma died in 2005 and about a year before she died she asked me if she had anything that I wanted. I said, "your cook book (copyright 1952) and your cast iron skillet." She has handwritten recipes throughout the book plus she has recipe clippings from many newspapers. The cover is barely held on with duct tape (my grandpa's fix it solution for everything). My grandma gave me many cooking and food memories. Pics at 7420 Anaqua Austin, TX.

My mother received this as a wedding gift in 1947. My Dad was in the Air Force so this has traveled to many states. It also served as a place to file important papers such as moving inventories and warranties for household appliances.

You can see this is a well used book. About the second year of marriage I accidently set the cook book on fire on an electric stove. The flames were amazing, of course I threw the book in the sink and turned on the fawcette. I was tthen was so angry took the dripping book and flung it into the back yard.. My husband, laughing so hard retrieved it and saved it for me.. FYI, iIwas a "Home Ec Major at SWTSU, now Texas State University.. Ha, ha...

Our early '60s cookbook may be food-stained and held together with packing tape, but it's still our "go-to" source for family favorites. We were gifted a "new" one in the mid-1970's, but soon tossed it aside because it was missing too many of our favorites or the recipes didn't taste like our comfort-food memories said they should.

This was my mom's cookbook dated 1953 when she was 37. It is filled with "extra" recipes she collected over the years. I was given it when I got married in 1984 and have added to it. When I lived in Alaska and collected crab apples, it was the only cookbook that had a recipe for Crab Apple Jelly. I can't imagine ever using another cookbook. Thanks mom - I miss you but this book keeps your memory alive!

I got this cookbook on my wedding day in 1963. As an Air Force wife with 4 kids, it's been all over the world with me. My favorite recipe is still the Peanut Butter Cookies.
